Lara Utian-Preston is a passionately committed communications expert and strategist with a focus on promoting African content and events. Two decades of working across Africa have provided her with insights and experience that she puts to work for the projects she manages. In 2006, Lara founded, and still personally manages, Red Flag Media, a full service communications agency that also focuses on African entertainment and lifestyle brand marketing, strategy, and publicity. Lara’s current focus is on the Ladima Foundation, a Pan-African non-profit company dedicated to the development and promotion of women in film, TV and media across Africa. As a co-founder, Lara serves as an Executive Board Member and is responsible for the communications and outreach portfolios for Ladima. Additionally, Lara handles all the Foundation’s marketing and communication requirements, ensuring that all Ladima interventions, partners, and projects are recognized internationally. Lara is a regular contributor to Screen Africa magazine and BizCommunity and is also currently in the final year of her Masters Degree in Film Studies at the University of Cape Town. She also holds a Masters Degree in Heritage Studies from the University of the Witswatersrand.
