CEO | Angola Cables
António Nunes is the CEO of Angola Cables, a position he has held since the company was established in 2009.
An electrical engineer by profession, Nunes has over 15 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.
Nunes studied at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany and previously worked for UNITEL, the largest mobile phone operator in Angola. During his tenure with UNITEL he coordinated the development of access (2G and 3G), core (monolithic and softswitch) and transmission networks (microwave and fibre optics), as well as the associated infrastructure.
As CEO of Angola Cables, Nunes has been responsible for positioning the company as leading player in the international telecom wholesale market. Under his leadership the company has engaged in several successful projects to date.
These include the commissioning of two submarine fibre optic cables, Monet and SACS and the upgrade Angola Cables’ Tier III Data Centre in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Nunes has also been instrumental in securing Angola Cables’ membership of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and was most recently nominated to the Data Economy: Power 200 List of Most Influential Leaders in the Data Economy.
